Wreck-It Ralph 2 Ralph Breaks the Internet trailer Disney princesses Vanellope

“Take me to a website that’s super-intense and really nuts!”

VANELLOPE NO. Clearly neither Disney’s glitchy princess nor beloved wrecker Ralph have visited the internet before, or they would know how risky it is to make a search query like that.

The first trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 does establish that Vanellope von Schweetz is indeed a Disney princess, in a funny self-burn about what makes up that archetype. But before that, you have to get through the mind-boggling bustle of ads, brands, and constant chatter, all the way to Disney’s GIF-tastic answer to Tumblr, Oh My Disney (yep, they really go there).

Which, if you think about it, accurately represents the experience of being online. Interesting…

The trailer is mostly jokey and sets the atmosphere, but here’s the official synopsis from Disney:

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet—which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) must risk it all by traveling to the world wide web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush. In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet—the netizens—to help navigate their way, including a website entrepreneur named Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site “BuzzzTube.”

Disney princess jokes aside, Yesss seems like the most interesting new character in this trailer.

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 comes to theaters November 21.

As someone who loves the original, this trailer makes me very sad. It’s the emoji movie with more on point branding.

Is Daft Punk involved in the soundtrack or are they just using the one sing for the trailer?  Because if so I might be interested.

Also the princess thing looked funny.

Ha, once again there is no sign of Kida or Eilonwy, even though they are also princesses. I understand there’s a princess “line” but the line includes Mulan (who isn’t a princess) and she’s not in this scene. I’m glad that even though they’re throwing Star Wars into this, there is no Leia in this sequence. That would just be wrong.

I’m impressed for the second time with this movie. I don’t know if my kids are going to enjoy it as much as I will, lol.

“Oh My Disney” is the name of Disney’s blog, and is totally real. https://ohmy.disney.com/

@3, Mulan is in the scene! She doesn’t talk in this cut but you can see her do a flying kick toward Vanellope when she enters the room, and she’s standing behind her (next to Merida and Belle) during the conversation.

Buzztube, Yess, and SugarRush – wow.  Could you be a little more obvious on the references you think…??  Though I suppose now adays that is what passes for subtle.

Looks like fun regardless and you are right it does sadly seem to replicate the experience of being online.

@7: Have you not seen the first one? SugarRush was established there.

@1: We took the kids to see the emoji movie, and probably since my expectations were so low, wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was perfectly mediocre–which puts it above pretty much any DreamWorks film. But you know with Pixar and Wreck-It Ralph, they’re going to do it many times better. I’ve actually often found with Pixar, though, that the trailers don’t seem to do as much for me, but then the movie turns out to be phenomenal.  I also understand the apprehension in that I am always nervous about sequels to really good stand-alone movies. This one may not end up having the impact of the first one by way of the fact that it IS a sequel…but I still have enough hope that it will be a good movie.

Sadly i think Kida was just an non entity within the ATLANTIS movie, and i see no reason why Disney would want to revisit that old wound.

Maybe in the near future and with a good enough talented force behind them, they could rework the entire ATLANTIS franchise into something meaningful beyond the mindless action stuff that itself in the foot.

I don’t know, make it interesting like BLACK PANTHER then we can talk about Kida(or her replacement) being part of the DISNEY PRINCESS franchise.

Anyways the princess scenes look fun and hopefully we get to see out of RALPH, an idea for a whole CGI fairy tale movie about the entire lineup. I would be really happy to see that!!!

Also a good guy retcon version of Helga Sinclair showing up wouldn’t hurt ether

Sigh – Eilonwy overlooked once again.

I’m not sure how I feel about the trailer – like, on one hand, it seems to be kind of lampshading it’s own blatant commercialism (Princesses! Star Wars! Marvel! Pixar! Muppets!) – it’s like…an ad for itself. It’s either really meta or really…hackneyed.

Plus, Cinderella is a redhead, come ON (and actually way more snarky than people give her credit for).  And I noticed that the Lego Movie 2 trailer does the same gag about all the female heroes being suboordinate to the men (which, for some of the more modern Disney movies, isn’t even really the case. It’s really not even the case for Vanellope who is hardly passive) – to the point where the humor in the joke is somewhat dulled.

And I agree that in some ways it really seems like the Emoji movie, but having seen the movie with crzydroid and our kids, I kind of agree. When we saw the Emoji movie (which was…basically mediocre. Better than Chicken Little, at least) I couldn’t help but think, ‘this is kind of like a mediocre version of Wreck-It Ralph and The LEGO Movie’.  So maybe Wreck-It Ralph will do it better.
